At
We view the growth of each child through the following areas:
Academic, Spiritual, Emotional, Physical and Social.
Academically we aim to:
· Foster an appetite for learning that each child will nurture through life.
· Offer access for all to achieve their potential in a happy environment.
· Provide a broad and balanced curriculum that is inspiring, challenging and realistic.
· Develop independent learners who make the very best of their individual skills and talents.
· Listen to, and value everyone's contribution and celebrate the achievement of all.
· Promote the professional development of all staff, providing in-house training, in addition to seeking relevant courses and programmes of study offered by local universities and the Local Education Authorities.
Spiritually we aim to:
· Love Jesus and others and nurture a sense of wonder at our place in God's family and His world.
· Create a spiritual atmosphere within which the whole school community may grow.
· Enrich the school community's relationship with God by praying together and individually in a variety of formats.
· Assist each child in their spiritual journey, accepting the stages of their development and nurturing a climate for spiritual growth.
Emotionally we aim to:
· Promote a positive self-image in each child, based on the premise that each one of us is created in the image and likeness of God.
· Ensure that children feel physically and emotionally secure.
· Help children to understand what causes our emotions and how to respond in appropriate ways.
· Teach children to recognise, respect and empathise with the feelings of others.
Physically we aim to:
· Encourage all children to appreciate and take part in every aspect of the physical curriculum and environment.
· Realise and celebrate the potential and achievement of each child.
· Provide a sage, challenging environment that enables children to "push the boundaries" in terms of physical endeavour.
· Teach the children to have respect for their bodies through a planned programme of PHSE.
· Consolidate and develop the "Healthy Schools" project.
· Provide opportunities for exploration of the school grounds through the "Learning through Landscapes" project.
· Report to the Child Protection officer ( currently Mrs. Jeffery) any evidence which may be an indicator of abuse. The LEA's Child Protection Procedures will then be initiated.
Socially we aim to:
· Raise awareness of different cultures and communities, in order to develop understanding and acceptance of other peoples.
· Give the children opportunities to make friends, share and interact with each other.
· Nurture an understanding that individual actions and behaviour may have a positive or negative effect on others.
· Create links between home, school and parish, through the sacramental programmes, family Masses, communication books, parents' evenings and PTFA events. All of which ensure a continuous dialogue.
· Extend links with the local community by inviting visitors to school, participating in inter-school events and presenting events for parishioners.
· Organise staff events to develop our social relationships
