Year 3's Page
Year 3 had a fantastic day out at Lower Stock Farm, Wrington. This was part of their work on Water of Life. The children were privileged to meet Jane, a farmer from Uganda, and Nick, who farms at Wrington. They were able to compare different farming methods, in particular, sustainable farming use of water. Have you ever tried carrying 5 litres of water on your head? We did, and it's not easy! Jane taught the class how to make a "tip tap" out of an empty plastic container, pieces of wood, string and some stones. This is really important for keeping healthy in rural Uganda as it enables people to wash their hands after using the latrine. The children also made a keyhole garden, using, amongst other things goats' dung to make the vegetables grow healthily. We would like to thank "Send a Cow for enabling this fascinating opportunity to happen.
